Hello, I'm Giulia
A project manager and parent, an expat living in Rome, Italy.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Italy wasn’t in the master plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
The initial weeks were demanding — new processes, fresh routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a great deal of learning by doing. Yet gradually habits took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Created OpenCloudShelf
Online information was mostly corporate-level relocation guidance or shallow travel content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — pragmatic guidance drawn from real life in Italy.
What This Website Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical insight from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Italy continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Giulia
